The Camden Centre

The Camden Centre is a community and events venue located in Market Square, Royal Tunbridge Wells, directly opposite the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre. It was designed and built as part of the wider town development associated with the creation of Royal Victoria Place, which opened in 1992; the community centre was included in the plans to provide a public space alongside retail, leisure and market facilities.

Since then, the Camden Centre has operated as a publicly managed community hub under Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, offering flexible rooms for local activities, classes, meetings and events for residents and businesses. Its ongoing role has been to support a wide range of community programmes and gatherings, contributing to local social and civic life in the town centre.

The Camden Centre is a versatile, fully wheelchair accessible community venue used by numerous community groups, families and individuals for various meetings and events as well as by numerous small and independent businesses. Those businesses who rely on the space do so to deliver community-focussed practices such as Yoga, Fitness Classes, Dance, Drama and other artistic endeavours.  This space empowers those businesses to offer reasonably priced activities for all ages of members of our community.

What's On Offer

• Community activities: A wide range of regular classes and groups, such as yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, martial arts, keep-fit and Zumba, toddler and pre-school groups, art, dance, drama, music, and self-defence.

• Events & Meetings: Space for board meetings, conventions, exhibitions, seminars, club and society gatherings, and promotional events.

• Hireable Rooms: Three main spaces available to hire: a large multi-purpose Main Hall (up to 150 seated), the flexible Victoria Suite (up to 80 seated), and the Albert Suite, typically used as a dance, rehearsal studio or sports hall.

• Victoria Suite with partition options for smaller meetings.

• Albert Suite perfect for dance, training, and rehearsals.

• Free equipment includes tables, chairs, projector/screen stands, flip charts, and changing rooms with showers as well as communal kitchen facilities.
